New Brighton and Wallasey by Claude Buckle

New Brighton and Wallasey

This very early 1935 railway poster cleverly shows the seaside resort with some artistic licence as it existed in 1935. Surprisingly it has little changed except for the view across the Mersey estuary towards the docks of Liverpool and Bootle where the tall cranes have now vanished from the skyline. Claude Buckle manages to capture the adventure of this seaside resort at New Brighton and Wallasey served by London Midland and Scottish railway. The original artwork survives.    Date of issue 1935 S.C.Allen & company ltd LMS       BACK
